10 Bible Passages Assuring Us God’s Word Has No Mistakes

If you are like me, then you have wondered many times if it is even possible to know the absolute and certain truth. Deception. Indoctrination. Lies. Manipulation. All of these are abundant, very abundant, around us. So is it even possible that the Bible has been preserved from the hand of evildoers?

The Bible contains dozens of verses promising to us that the word of God is perfect and preserved. Let’s look at a few of them.

Psalms 138:2
I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name.

Hmm. Wow. That verse says that God’s word is magnified above His very name. That sounds pretty important. But still, people use God’s name as a cuss word, so being magnified above that isn’t saying a lot. Right?

Well, here’s another passage.

Revelation 22:18-19
For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

I don’t know about you, but this sounds extremely serious to me. Some of the last words of the Bible are a warning not to mess with the words of God.

Psalms 119:89
For ever, O LORD, thy word is settled in heaven.

For ever. Wow. That’s…a long time….

Psalms 119:152
Concerning thy testimonies, I have known of old that thou hast founded them for ever.

Psalms 119:160
Thy word is true from the beginning: and every one of thy righteous judgments endureth for ever.

How about this one:

2 Samuel 22:31
As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the LORD is tried: he is a buckler to all them that trust in him.

The word “tried” there means refined, or purged. It is purified, it is without spot or flaw.

2 Timothy 3:16
All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

1 Thessalonians 2:13
For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.

Psalms 19:7-9
The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple. The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes. The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether.

And lastly, the one that is most reassuring and comforting to me:

Psalms 12:6-7
The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.

He keeps them. Secure. Reliable. True. Complete. We can trust the word of God 1000%.
