A Different Kind of Freedom

I’m a pretty patriotic person, and I am super, super thankful for the physical freedom we have here in the USA. There can be no question that this country is an impressive one. Our government, our liberty, what we have stood for, our influence, our power, our prosperity…I don’t think any empire from the past was quite such a perfect balance of these qualities besides Israel back when David & Solomon reigned. I doubt any since then were.

But there’s a different kind of freedom I’ve experienced this year. A kind that’s far deeper and more valuable.

Freedom from deception.

I’ve done a lot of studying this year. Hundreds and hundreds of hours of it. I’ve dug into God’s word like I never did before. I came upon a big question last year, and it was something that I couldn’t let go. I couldn’t ignore it. I was desperate for the answer, and so I searched for it, deep, with my whole heart, because no matter what the truth was I wanted to find it.

And I did.

And you know what?

The truth makes you free.

Not physically.

Not outwardly.

But it frees your mind. It gives you peace beyond your comprehension. It gives you security within. It makes you confident. It gives you joy. It changes you forever.

And so while everyone else was complaining that 2016 was terrible, it was the best year yet for me, because I began a quest that transformed my entire life.

So I want to encourage you all: never give up on searching for truth. Satan is doing absolutely everything imaginable to hide truth, to propagate lies. He deceives the whole world. But if you search diligently, you can discover the deception, you can see through his plans. And you can experience a whole new level of freedom.

There’s another thing I cannot tell you enough:

Always trust God’s word 100% on everything even if you have been told something else your entire life, and even if the entire world believes something different.

Make sure you know what you’re talking about. Make sure you’re a master of the subject, that you’ve searched the whole Bible. But if you find that what God’s word says and what people tell you don’t line up, the Bible is right my friend. God knew what He was doing.

I learned that. Firsthand.

But lastly, friend, and by far most important: I hope that you know what it’s like to be truly free. Because the most important freedom of all isn’t physical or mental. It’s spiritual. It’s freedom from sin & death.

Romans 6:21-23
“What fruit had ye then in those things whereof ye are now ashamed? for the end of those things is death. But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life. For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
