To the Christian Who Wants to Give Up

To the Christian who wants to give up: I’m here to try and give you hope today. Please don’t allow the Devil to discourage you and bring you down. Please don’t forget that Jesus died so you could live. Please remember that though you have sorrow now, you will have joy later!

Because I know what it’s like to feel like giving up, I want to do my best to help you by sharing what strengthens me when I am down. Let me remind you of a few things and may God work through it.

1~ Jesus Prayed For YOU

He did! He prayed for you. You can read his prayer in John chapter 17. At first He is referring to His disciples, but later, in verse 20 He says, “Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word”. Since all of us have believed in Jesus through the word of those original disciples (four of them wrote the gospels), Jesus was talking about us there. That means you too! And what does Jesus say in verse 23? He prays that, “…they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou [God] hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.

That is a powerful statement…that God loves you & me as He loves Jesus Christ His Son.

So Jesus prayed for you, friend, and he intercedes for you today! For His sake, don’t give up! He wants you to have victory. He died so you could have victory. And don’t be discouraged because you think you’re unloved, either. You are loved A LOT!!!

2~ We Have a SURE Reward!

Proverbs 11:18 ~ The wicked worketh a deceitful work: but to him that soweth righteousness shall be a sure reward.

It isn’t something to be uncertain of, nor should you doubt its existence. That treasure is in heaven where moth and rust do not corrupt and where thieves CANNOT break through nor steal! You can be 100% positive that if you build those things that are lasting upon that solid foundation of Jesus Christ, you will be rewarded accordingly as a good steward.

Galatians 6:9 ~ And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.

Revelation 2:10 ~ …be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.

Revelation lists a bunch of things that are for them that overcome.

  1. They will be given to eat of the tree of life
  2. They will not be hurt of the second death
  3. They will be given a white stone with a new name
  4. They will be clothed in white raiment
  5. Their names will not be blotted out of the book of life

And these are just a few!

3~ God is WITH YOU

Psalm 46:1-3 ~ God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah.

God is a VERY PRESENT help in trouble, friend. If you’re sad, tired of trying over & over & OVER again, if you’re discouraged, God is present to help you. Did you know that He thinks about you? Read Psalm chapter 40 verses 5 and 17.

Psalms 34:18-19 ~ The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all.

Hebrews 13:5 ~ …for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.

Matthew 28:20 ~ …and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

The world hasn’t ended yet, so He’s still with us friend!

Just a few verses that inspire me to keep going when I feel defeated:

Micah 7:8 ~ Rejoice not against me, O mine enemy: when I fall, I shall arise; when I sit in darkness, the LORD shall be a light unto me.

Psalm 126:5-6 ~ They that sow in tears shall reap in joy. He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.

Psalm 37:23-24 ~ The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the LORD upholdeth him with his hand.

Revelation 21:4-7 ~ And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful. And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely. He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.

I hope this was an encouragement to you! Don’t give up! If you would like to read more posts by me, below are links to a few. Thanks for stopping by! 🙂
